Some Challenges in Teaching Language

In this talk we will examine three thinking areas which are central to any adequate language teaching:
  • achievement of rapport: teacher with her group, teacher with her individual students and the students with each other
  • awareness on the part of the teacher of Multiple Intelligences in the students and therefore of the need to teach language through all 7 intelligences (Gardner) and not simply through the linguistic one
  • awareness on the part of the teacher of the very different sensory ways students process incoming information. We will especially focus on the problem faced in our classes by the principally kinaesthetic learner
I hope you will leave the hall with practical as well as thoughtful ideas.
