Learning to learn: the textbook as a dynamic learning environment
This workshop will show how teaching material for upper secondary school learners can support and develop students' individual learning and communication strategies. This will be a hands-on workshop, showing different techniques students can use for developing their learning, e.g. learning from their environment, retaining vocabulary, improving their reading comprehension, etc. Although concrete examples will be taken from the new Culture Café (Otava) series (English for upper secondary school students), the strategies are applicable to learning any language. The workshop will be given in English, however participants may raise questions or give comments in Finnish.
